One of the most successful solo female artists of all time, Mexican-born Thalía, is back from a brief hiatus with her highly anticipated eleventh studio album (and first with SONY records), “Habítame Siempre,” hitting stores Nov. 19.
Target teamed up with Thalía, also known as the “Queen of Latin Pop,” to launch an exclusive deluxe edition of her new album, which includes three bonus tracks, “La Apuesta” (The Wager) feat. Erik Rubin, “Ojalá” (I Hope to God) and “La Atmósfera” (The Atmosphere).
For this album, her first in four years, Thalía also collaborated with Robbie Williams, Michael Bublé, Prince Royce and Gilberto Santa Rosa, among others.
Below, we chat with the international icon about her legendary career and upcoming album.
Tell us a little about your partnership with Target. Why create a deluxe album edition?
First off, Target is one of my family’s favorite stores. My kids love to go there. My daughter has to do certain things in order to “win points” for good behavior, and her prize is a trip to Target! We decided to create a deluxe album edition of “Habítame Siempre” because so many wonderful songs were recorded during my sessions and I wanted to get them all out there for my fans. A deluxe album was the ideal solution, and Target, the perfect partner.
What makes your newest album so unique?
“Habítame Siempre” is a summary of all these years of hard work experimenting with music and finally feeling free and comfortable with my own style. It’s an album focused on creating live music with very strong lyrics.
How have you evolved as an artist since your very first album?
I’ve evolved in every possible way! Before, I used to care too much about the “image” of it all—the “look” of each song, album and show. It was overwhelming! Now, I feel comfortable with everything that I’m doing. I’m more mature.
You act, you sing and you’re a successful entrepreneur. What do you enjoy doing the most?
Singing involves everything. Each song has a different feeling to it that makes me act in different ways. As long as I can express my creativity through music, acting, books, business projects or even my radio show, I feel amazing!
Who are your biggest musical influences?
There are too many! Some of them are The Doors, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Céline Dion, Sade… the list goes on and on!
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Doing what makes me happy! Life is so short, so we need to enjoy every second of it and do whatever makes us content. I feel happy with my kids, my marriage, my music, and my fan, all of them mean so much to me and I want them in my life each and every year.
