The Broadway revival of Evita will open on Thursday, April 5 at the Marquis Theatre
Evita tells the story of Argentina’s Eva Peron, who used her beauty and charisma to rise meteorically from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as First Lady. She won international acclaim and adoration from her own people as a champion of the poor, while glamour, power and greed made her the world’s first major political celebrity.
Michael Grandage directs the production, which stars Ricky Martin as Che, Elena Roger as Eva, and Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón. The cast also features Max Von Essen as Magaldi, Rachel Potter as Mistress, and Christina DeCicco, who is the alternate/standby for Eva Peron.
Expected guests include the show’s creators – Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice – along with Bryan Batt, Ruben Blades, Kim Cattrall, Mark Consuelos, Michael Douglas, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Whoopi Goldberg, Carolina Herrera, Famke Janssen, Scarlett Johansson, Hoda Kotb, Jude Law, Adamari Lopez, James Marsden, Tommy Mottola, John Noble, Rafael Marquez, David Hyde Pierce, Kelly Ripa, Al Roker, Thalía, Tommy Torres, Barbara Walters, Anna Wintour, Bernie Williams and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
